Firstly - as a heads up, our blog will be moving and the format will be changing in the next few weeks! We are starting to do more design and film freelance in our spare time, and are building out a website. We will be moving the blog over there so we aren't dealing with two different platforms and hosts and stuff. Anywayyyyss will keep you posted. sooo... I CHOPPED MY HAIR! Its been so hot and heavy, and I finally couldnt handle it. Ill probably go even shorter in the future, but I am LOVING it sofar :) I'm pretty impulsive when it comes to huge haircuts, and have done them myself a time or two. I just gotta do it before i loose my nerve! And after the fiasco with that hair salon here last time I was more comfortable doing it myself than if i had gone somewhere. Poor Steven was asleep and I woke him up to make sure the back was even. He was like "...what? wwhat? man this is alot to wake up to" hahah!

This week my department went out and did some laser tag after work one day. We had pizza and played some games and then went and shot each other for an hour and a half haha. I had never played laser tag before and it was a blast!! More fun than paintball because 1. you have unlimited shots 2. lots more hiding places 3. IT DOESNT HURT I was feeling pretty good about it by the last round, and afterwards looking at the scoreboard I was shocked to see I had ranked 4th out of 33! HOW. just how. haha, I brought home the scorecard because I suspected (correctly) that Steven would have reservations believing I had done so well.

Steven did some filming for a wedding this weekend. He had a blast, and was super inspired by the couple. Apparently he teared up during the vows, because the groom said "Thank you for showing me the purest form of love I've ever experienced." swooooon! What a lucky lady is that bride! And I'm pretty lucky too to have a guy who tears up at stuff like that or gets the feels during the movie Little Women. (I was practically sobbing during that movie. Seriously watch it its amazing. I had nearly forgotten how much I loved it)

So last week we were too tired to write because Canada Day! Since it was Canada 150 we decided what better way to spend it than by driving down to Ottowa and spending it near parlament hill! It was a pretty crazy day, full of people and noise and RAIN, and we didnt get to bed until about 3am, but it was worth it!

We spent the day eating delicious sandwiches, and having a picnic with the friends we had driven down with Janelle and Ben. There were characters everywhere, which makes sense because there were HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of people there! yeah.

We saw the changing of the guards or something? I dunno what it was but it was very funny because Steven was so intent on taking these pictures, and i was intent on putting my poncho away in its tiny bag that we didn't notice the police had asked everyone to stand back about 5 meters from the guards in a semi-circle. Steven and I were the lone people right up close haha!

Over where the stages were set up, the grass was so saturated with water from how wet it has been here that all the people walking on the lawns just churned it into super deep mud. We had set up our blankets a where we found some dry ground, but i still ended up with muddy chucks dang it.

We listened to music and wandered around. I got a tiny sunburn somehow. We were watching some threatening clouds roll in around 8pm, and I was marveling over how fast they were going! It was insane. They were looking pretty menacing too, but when they got to us and nothing happened, no rain or anything, the boys decided to go find a bathroom. not 5 minutes after they left, the heavens opened and suddenly we were under water. We scrambled to get our rain poncho's on (yes we had ponchos and they were the best money I've ever spent. shout out to Janelle for that stroke of genius) We got all our backpacks and camera gear in a pile and then we strategically tented ourselves in our ponchos so everything was under us. Like we were a two headed poncho chicken roosting on some very expensive camera eggs. We were there for at least half an hour until the rain slowed some, but the rain didn't stop for close to two hours we think. Steven and I ran off to find some hot chocolate and a beavers tale to feel better about the wet and the not having anything to do until fireworks. the fireworks were well worth the storm and the rain. We had an incredible spot thanks to Janelle and Ben! Ben went to the car early, for a catnap, and we eventually made our way over to him too. I LOVE FIREWORKS. They are such sparkly magic.

Anyways, that was our Canada fun, and then the rest of what we have been up to since!

Love,

Heather
